Seoul Standard Dental Clinic Frequently asked questions
See the questions patients most often ask
before visiting our clinic, all in one place.
Is sedation dentistry only available for implant treatment?
No.
Sedation can be used for a wide range of procedures, including extractions, gum treatment and cavity treatment, and it is especially helpful for patients with dental anxiety.
Is sedation dentistry safe?
Vital signs are monitored with a patient monitor (BM1), oxygen supply equipment is on hand, and the sedative is delivered through an infusion pump for precise dose control. A health screening before the procedure is required.
How long does sedation treatment take?
It depends on the procedure and its scope, but it usually takes between 30 minutes and 2 hours. Please allow extra time for recovery.
Can I return to my daily routine right after sedation treatment?
We recommend resting on the day of the procedure because of the lingering effects of the medication. For safety, avoid driving and important appointments that day.
Is a bone graft always necessary for implants?
If the bone volume or density is insufficient, a bone graft may be needed for stable implant placement. This is decided after a pre-treatment evaluation.
Can I get implants if I have high blood pressure or diabetes?
Yes, if the condition is well controlled. Coordination with your physician and a thorough pre-treatment evaluation are required.
When can I eat after surgery?
Start with soft foods once the local anesthesia wears off, and avoid irritating the surgical site.
How long do implants last?
On average, implants last 10 to 15 years or more, and they can last longer with regular checkups and good oral hygiene.
Can I brush my teeth as usual after implant surgery?
Brush gently while avoiding the surgical site, and use a professional mouth rinse or the prescribed products as well.
Is it better to place more implants?
More is not always better. It is important to plan the appropriate number of implants based on your oral structure and chewing force.
What is the difference between no-prep veneers and conventional veneers?
No-prep veneers are bonded without grinding the tooth at all, so the natural tooth is fully preserved.
However, when a major change in tooth shape or a more esthetic alignment is desired, veneers may be placed with minimal tooth reduction.
Conventional veneers are bonded after part of the tooth is reduced, so there may be some loss of tooth structure compared with no-prep veneers.
We choose the most suitable method for each patient's condition and desired result.
Does cosmetic treatment weaken the teeth?
The treatment is done without excessive tooth reduction, and our experienced dentists use a minimally invasive approach, so it does not significantly affect tooth health.
How long do teeth whitening results last?
Results last about 6 months to 1 year on average, and this can vary depending on your diet and lifestyle habits.
Can veneers chip or come off?
This can happen in special cases such as a strong impact or teeth grinding, but problems are rare with normal use.
What should I eat after getting veneers?
We recommend soft foods on the day of the procedure, and you should be careful with hard or sticky foods afterward as well.
Can my teeth feel sensitive after veneers?
Some sensitivity is possible at first, but it is usually temporary and eases naturally over time.
Can a tooth that has been treated for a cavity get another cavity?
The treated area is well sealed, but with poor care a new cavity can form around it or elsewhere. Regular checkups and good oral care are important.
I can see a cavity but it does not hurt. Do I still need treatment?
Even without pain, a cavity may still be progressing, so early treatment gives you a better chance of preserving the tooth.
Do wisdom teeth always need to be extracted?
Not always. It depends on the position and angle of the tooth. We recommend extraction when there is a risk of inflammation, pain or damage to neighboring teeth.
My jaw hurts and clicks. Is it a TMJ disorder?
It may be a TMJ disorder. For an accurate diagnosis, a CT scan or functional examination at the clinic may be needed.
Can I use an over-the-counter mouthguard instead of a custom splint from the dentist?
Over-the-counter products do not fit your individual oral structure, so they are less effective and can even make things worse. A custom-made splint is the safer choice.
What is the latest time I can check in for treatment?
Check-in closes 30 minutes before the end of treatment hours: 6:00 PM on Mon, Wed and Fri, 8:00 PM on Tue and Thu (evening hours), and 1:30 PM on Saturday. (Confirmed by the clinic director, Aug 2026)
Where can I park?
You can use the underground parking garage in the building (somewhat limited space) or the Doan public parking lot behind the building. Parking fees are covered for the duration of your visit. (Confirmed by the clinic director, Aug 2026)
Can I be treated by a female dentist?
Yes, treatment by a female dentist is available. Please let us know when you book and we will arrange it. (Confirmed by the clinic director, Aug 2026)
