DIGITAL GUIDE IMPLANT

Digital Guided Implants

We analyze the structures hidden inside the jawbone
and plan the implant position and direction in advance.

What are digital guided implants?

Before surgery, the implant position is
designed first in a digital environment.

Digital guided implant treatment merges intraoral scan data
with the jawbone and anatomical structures
seen on a 3D CT scan
to plan the implant position, direction and depth
in advance.

Based on that plan, a surgical guide matched to
the patient's mouth is fabricated,
and during treatment the guide
is used to place the implant in the planned position.

When digital guided
implants
are a good fit

Guided surgery can be considered when the implant position, angle and depth
need detailed planning,
or when several implants must be placed
to a consistent standard.

Patients with complex
anatomical structures

Patients who need
multiple implants

Patients whose previous implant
failed or developed problems

Patients with special
oral and maxillofacial conditions

Denture wearers with reduced taste
and difficulty chewing

Patients who want less incision and surgical burden
for a quicker recovery

Advantages of the digital guided implant system

The treatment plan built from 3D CT and intraoral scan data
is
transferred to a patient-specific surgical guide
that assists the actual placement.

Digital Guided Implants Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions patients ask most often
before visiting Seoul Standard Dental Clinic.

How do digital guided implants work?

3D CT and intraoral scan data are combined to plan the implant position, angle and depth in advance.
A patient-specific surgical guide built from that plan is then used during the actual placement.

Does a digital guide mean no gum incision?

If the jawbone and surrounding tissue are suitable, the procedure can be done flapless or with a minimal incision.
However, a gum incision may still be needed when a bone graft is required or when the surgical site needs to be seen directly.

Does a guide eliminate placement error?

A digital guide helps place the implant in the planned position, but it does not completely eliminate the possibility of error.
The dentist checks the fit of the guide and the condition of the mouth and proceeds based on clinical judgment.

Is everyone a candidate for digital guided implants?

We assess how wide the patient can open, the remaining teeth, the amount of jawbone, any inflammation and general health before deciding.
Depending on the condition of the mouth, a conventional implant approach may be more suitable.

What equipment is used to plan digital guided implants?

An HDX WILL panoramic and CT unit shows jawbone width and height and the position of the nerve canal and sinus in three dimensions, and a wireless intraoral scanner (Trios5) captures the shape of the teeth (confirmed by the director, August 2026).
The two data sets are merged to plan the implant position, angle and depth in advance.

How many days does pain last after implant surgery?

Severe pain during placement is uncommon thanks to local anesthesia, and the most uncomfortable period is usually the first 2 to 3 days after the anesthesia wears off.
A straightforward placement is often managed with pain relievers for a day or two, while cases involving extraction or a bone graft may bring 2 to 5 days of pain and swelling.
Pain that gets worse over time is not a normal course of healing and calls for a visit.

How long do implants last, and what happens after 10 years?

Lifespan varies widely with care, from around 10 years to several decades.
An implant is an assembly of fixture, abutment and crown, so when a problem arises it is often only the crown that needs replacing. Removal and re-placement are needed only when peri-implantitis has caused bone loss.
Flossing, interdental brushing, regular checkups and not smoking are what determine how long an implant lasts.
