Metal-free ceramic covers the whole of a damaged tooth
to restore its shape, color and chewing function together.
A prosthetic treatment that covers the entire tooth
using only ceramic material, with no metal.
It is used to restore the function, shape and color of a tooth
that is badly damaged by decay or fracture, or that needs
protection after root canal treatment.

Made from ceramic with no metal frame,
it reproduces light transmission and color similar to natural teeth.

Designed to blend naturally with the neighboring teeth,
taking their color, translucency, size and surface texture into account.

We examine the mouth and custom make each crown
so that the margin where tooth and crown meet fits precisely.

Beyond the shape of the tooth, the crown is finished with the way the upper and lower teeth meet
and the forces of chewing in mind.
When tooth damage is extensive, or an existing restoration needs functional and aesthetic improvement,
an all-ceramic crown
may be considered after examining the mouth.
Veneers cover the front surface of the tooth with a thin layer
to improve its appearance,
while an all-ceramic crown covers the whole tooth
to restore both function and shape.

All-ceramic is a broad term for crowns made without metal, and zirconia is one type of ceramic material.
The material chosen can vary with the location of the tooth, the bite and aesthetic needs.
Getting a crown does not automatically mean root canal treatment.
Whether it is needed depends on the extent of decay or fracture and the condition of the nerve in the tooth.
Because a crown covers the entire tooth, it requires more preparation than a veneer.
The amount removed depends on how damaged the tooth is and the material used.
Longevity depends on the condition of the tooth, your bite, whether you grind your teeth, oral hygiene and regular checkups.
The teeth and gums around the crown need ongoing care, not just the crown itself.
Crowns are KRW 400,000 for PFM, KRW 500,000 for zirconia (molars), KRW 600,000 for all-ceramic (front teeth) and KRW 800,000 for gold type A (prices as of Aug 17, 2026, confirmed by the clinic director).
Prosthetics such as crowns and bridges are generally non-covered by National Health Insurance, while any root canal treatment done beforehand is covered (source: National Health Insurance Service).
It is not a matter of better or worse; the indications differ.
Gold is malleable, adapts to the bite and is gentle on the opposing teeth, so it suits molars that do not show and patients who grind. Zirconia is strong and esthetic, so it suits visible areas.
The choice is made considering the location, bite, grinding habits and aesthetic needs.
Early sensitivity in a crown on a tooth that kept its nerve is common and usually settles within a few weeks.
Pain only on chewing often means the bite is slightly high, and a bite adjustment resolves it in many cases.
If it gets worse or persists, come back so we can find the cause.
