Sedation process frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions patients most often ask
before visiting Seoul Standard Dental Clinic.

What checks are done before sedation dentistry?

Before treatment, a consultation and medical history review cover systemic conditions, current medications, and any previous surgery or sedation.
We combine the oral examination results with the planned scope of treatment to prepare the sedation and treatment plan.

What about food and my regular medication on the day of treatment?

Follow the fasting period you are given, and take your regular medication as instructed by the clinical team.
If you take diabetes medication, anticoagulants or similar, be sure to tell us in advance.

Does treatment start as soon as the sedative is given?

After the sedative is given, we check your response, breathing and vital signs, and treatment begins once a stable level of sedation is reached.
Any local anesthesia needed is also given while your condition is monitored.

Could I wake up or move during treatment?

Conscious sedation keeps you at a level where you can still respond to the clinical team.
Your response is checked continuously, and the level of sedation is adjusted within a safe range when needed.

What equipment is used to monitor me during sedation?

A patient monitor (BM1) tracks blood pressure, pulse and oxygen saturation, an oxygen concentrator (Kingon P2-O5E) supplies oxygen, and an infusion pump (SYRIN-Z4000) delivers the sedative at a steady rate (confirmed by the Director, August 2026).
Watching the patient's breathing during the procedure is central to the safety of dental sedation (source: Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, National Health Information Portal, dental sedation).

When and how do I go home after sedation dentistry?

You go home after we confirm in the recovery area that your consciousness and vital signs have recovered sufficiently.
The effects of the sedative can linger, so avoid driving that day and go home with a companion.
We recommend resting for the rest of the day and scheduling important commitments for another day.

Until what time can I book and check in for sedation dentistry?

Check-in closes 30 minutes before the end of office hours: Mon, Wed, Fri 6:00 PM, Tue, Thu 8:00 PM, Sat 1:30 PM (confirmed by the Director, August 2026).
Sedation requires recovery time after the procedure, so the appointment time is set with recovery in mind.
Appointments can be made by phone at +82-42-823-2279 or through Naver Booking.
